Remo Stars Ladies Stun Edo Queens with Late Winner in NWFL Super Six
Remo Stars Ladies pulled off a surprise 1-0 win over defending champions Edo Queens in a thrilling end to Saturday’s NWFL Premiership Super Six Playoff matches in Ikenne.
Olasubomi Ogundele scored the only goal of the game in the 88th minute to seal victory for the Lagos-based side, despite Edo Queens dominating most of the match.
Edo Queens controlled possession and created several chances but failed to convert them, and their wastefulness was punished late on by Remo Stars Ladies, who showed great determination to hold their ground.
The result has dealt a heavy blow to Edo Queens’ hopes of retaining their title, while Remo Stars Ladies have boosted their chances and are now emerging as surprise contenders in the race for the NWFL crown.
It was a reminder that in the Super Six, no team is guaranteed safety—one moment can change everything.
