Remo Stars Ladies Top NWFL Super Six Table After Matchday Two as Title Race Heats Up

Remo Stars Ladies are leading the race for the 2025 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) Premier League title after securing their second win in the ongoing Super Six tournament.

The Ikenne-based side edged Naija Ratels 1-0 in a tightly contested clash on Monday, thanks to a 14th-minute goal from Bolaji Olamide. The win keeps them perfect in the competition with six points from two matches and puts them in prime position to lift the league title.

In another exciting fixture, Nasarawa Amazons and Bayelsa Queens shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Jenat Akekeromowei put Bayelsa Queens ahead from the penalty spot in the 56th minute, but the lead lasted only six minutes as Dooshima Tarnum levelled for the Amazons.

The final match of the day also ended in a 1-1 draw between Rivers Angels and Edo Queens. Emem Essien gave Edo Queens the lead in the 26th minute, but a 38th-minute own goal from Valentina Uroko handed Rivers Angels a way back into the match.

NWFL Super Six Standings After Matchday Two:

  1. Remo Stars Ladies – 6 points

  2. Nasarawa Amazons – 4 points

  3. Bayelsa Queens – 4 points

  4. Edo Queens – 1 point

  5. Rivers Angels – 1 point

  6. Naija Ratels – 0 point

With their male counterparts already claiming the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) crown, the big question now is: Can Remo Stars do the double and win both the men’s and women’s top-flight titles in the same season?
