Chelsea have completed the signing of Senegalese International goalkeeper Edouard Mendy from Rennes in reported fee of £22m.
The 28-year-old reportedly signed a five-year contract at the London club where he might start his first game this weekend.
While the Chelsea fans are happy with the signing whom they believe would be a better option compared to their current goalkeeper, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Rennes fans have divided opinion about the deal.
Most of the fans are particularly unhappy that Edouard Mendy would not be staying with them for long while a but confirmed that Chelsea have signed a good goalkeeper.
“The adventure between Rennes and you was cut short, Started so quickly, ended so quickly,” said a fan on Rennes official Twitter page.
“Already a year that you are by our side, So precious you have helped us a lot.
“So precious you sometimes kept your clean sheet, So reassuring that we got attached,
“A love story already over.”
Another fan said: “But for you “this is the moment”, As Julien Stephan would say, No grudges, no regrets.”
“Your work and your efforts are rewarded, You have well deserved it, In Rennes you impressed,
“In Chelsea you will impose yourself.
“Thank you Edouard Mendy.”
“Bye champion …. you’re going to impose yourself on Chelsea without any problem!
“Hopefully we can see you in LDC!,” said another fan.
