Report: Chelsea close in on Real Madrid star Danilo
CHELSEA are reportedly closing in on a deal for Real Madrid defender Danilo.
Antonio Conte is keen to bolster his ranks in this summer’s transfer window.
The Blues boss has been left frustrated by the club’s lack of transfer activity so far with Antonio Rudiger being their only major signing.
He has pinpointed the right-back position as a priority area for improvement as wants to provide healthy competition for Cesar Azpilicueta and Victor Moses.
Reports last week suggested Chelsea tabled a £22million offer to Real in a bid to persuade them to sell the former Porto man, but they rejected their approach.
However, Brazilian outlet UOL Esporte claim the Premier League champions are now expected to reach an agreement over a £28m fee for Danilo.
The 25-year-old is currently in the USA for Real Madrid’s pre-season tour.
But he has apparently been convinced that a move to Chelsea would be beneficial for his development.
He has been the understudy to Dani Carvajal at the Bernabeu and Zinedine Zidane wants to keep him at the club.
But it appears that a move to Stamford Bridge is on with Danilo’s representatives due to arrive in Europe in the coming days to push through a switch to west London.
