Reports: Osimhen poised to replace goal machine, set to complete unfinished business

Super Eagles striker set to spark bidding war

Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen is said to be on the radar of German giants Bayern Munich for a summer transfer, according to German outlet Plettigoal. The Napoli ace is expected to cost north of €100 million this summer, with many of Europe’s top sides lining up for his signature.

Osimhen is having the best season of his career with 25 goals in 28 appearances for the Partenopei, and the striker is leading their title charge. As a result, a number of clubs, including Chelsea and Manchester United, have registered their interest in the Super Eagles star. Unconfirmed reports coming out of Germany, however, show that a new team has made contact with his representatives and have jumped to the front of the queue.

Bayern Munich have been searching for a replacement for Robert Lewandowski, who joined FC Barcelona last summer. The club are said to have identified the Nigerian striker as perfect for their system and are looking to complete a deal for him. They are, however, said to be unwilling to sanction a deal for more than €100 million, with Napoli said to be standing firm for €130 million. Both sides will continue negotiations until the summer and seek to find a common ground for the transfer to take place.

Osimhen is no stranger to German football, having moved to Germany as a teenager with VFL Wolfsburg after his exploits at the U-17 World Cup. The move did not go to plan for the then-prodigy, as he made 16 appearances without finding the net once before he was shipped out of the club. The striker is said to be very willing to move to Germany, and may also be looking to complete his story in Germany with his time at Wolfsburg on his mind.
