Results from 1st phase of Nigeria U-19 National team camp

The 1st phase of the Nigeria U-19 National team camp is over and 24 players to be invited for the 2nd phase.

Earlier this Month, 44 players from across the country were invited to camp in preparation for the ICC U-19 div. 2 Qualifier in August. The players were shared into 4 teams and engaged in a T-20 tournament series. The teams were divided into Trojans, dolphins, Panthers and Lions.

Match results

Match 1: Dolphins’ vs Trojans
Trojans won the toss and elected to bat first scoring a total of 106 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in 25 overs.

In the second innings, Dolphin scored a total of 107 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in 25 overs

Dolphins won by 3 wickets.

Match 2: Panthers vs Lions…
Lions won the toss and elected to bat scoring 113 runs for loss of 8 wickets in 25 Overs.

In the second innings, Panthers CC chased down the required total to record 114 runs for the loss of 3 wickets in 22.3 overs.

Jimon Abdulraman scored 54 runs as the best performer with the bat.

Panthers won by 7 wickets

DAY 2: Match 3. Dolphins Vs Panthers
Dolphins won the toss & elected to field first sending in Panthers to bat. Panthers scored a total of 153 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in 30 overs.

In the second innings Dolphins fought hard but could only manage a total of 140 runs all out in 30 overs.

Panthers won by 13 runs

Day 2: Game 4. Lions vs Trojans

Lions won the toss and elected to bat scoring a meager total of 57 runs all out in 17 overs.

In the second innings, Trojans raced to a comfortable 48 runs for the loss of 1 wicket in 10 overs before rain disrupts play.

FINAL DAY: Game 5.Lions, vs Dolphins
Dolphins won the toss and elected to field sending Lions to bat first. Lions scored a total of 123 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 30 Overs.

In the second innings, Dolphins chased but fell short of the required total scoring 91 runs for the loss of 8 wickets in 30 overs.

Lions won by 32 runs.

Expected to join these selected 24 players are Sylvester Okpe, Isaac Danladin and Runsewe Sulieman among others, who have also been invited for the senior men’s camp but are also available for selection for the U-19.
