Revealed: Jose Mourinho hasn’t spoken to Manchester United star for a month after bust-up

Jose Mourinho has not spoken to Luke Shaw in a month following a furious bust-up with the Manchester United left-back, according to reports.

The Times claim that the United manager was irate with the 21-year-old for speaking to Bournemouth’s players at half-time in the 1-1 draw at Old Trafford on March 4.

Since that game, Shaw has failed to make the bench in all but one of United’s matches, and even then he was an unused substitute for the 3-1 win at Middlesbrough before the international break.

The report also claims that the defender is ‘bemused’ by Mourinho’s actions and will consider a move away from Old Trafford if his situation does not improve.

When asked why Shaw was failing to get in the side after United’s goalless draw with West Brom on Saturday, Mourinho replied: ‘It’s difficult for him to be on the bench because I cannot compare him with Ashley Young, Darmian and Blind.

‘I cannot compare the way he trains, the way he commits, the focus, the ambition. I cannot compare.

‘He is a long way behind.’

Speaking about Shaw’s situation at Old Trafford, Gary Neville, who worked with the left-back with the England national team, believes the defender needs consistent playing time in order to prove Mourinho wrong.

‘I think, ultimately, fitness has been his biggest problem in terms of injury and getting back fit to the levels he’s at,’ Neville told Sky Sports News.

‘He’s the type of player, he’s not just on his own, he looks to me like he needs ten or fifteen games on the run to get to his real fighting weight, as it were, in terms of being to sprint forward every single minute of the game.

‘He very rarely gets that sort of consistency, and that is his biggest issue.’
