Rivers Hoopers Reclaim NPBL Title, Secure 2027 BAL Ticket
Rivers Hoopers have reclaimed the Nigeria Premier Basketball League (NPBL) title after completing an unbeaten run in the 2026 Final Four playoffs in Port Harcourt.
The KingsMen secured the championship with a game to spare after defeating Gboko City Chiefs 88-76 on Monday.
They then completed their unbeaten run on Tuesday with a thrilling 92-90 overtime victory over Maktown Flyers.
Rivers Hoopers were impressive from the three-point line against Gboko City Chiefs, making 12 three-pointers on their way to a 12-point victory.
The title marks a return to the top for the Port Harcourt-based team and adds another major achievement to their record in Nigerian basketball.
Their NPBL triumph also earns Rivers Hoopers a place in the 2027 Basketball Africa League (BAL), marking their return to the continental competition after missing the previous season.
