In what represents a huge boost for Nigerian club Rivers United, USM Alger will be without five key players for the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final first leg clash in Uyo on Sunday, March 31, 2024.
Algerian club USM Alger will face a significant setback in the first leg of their CAF Confederation Cup quarter-final clash against Rivers United, as five key players will be sidelined due to injury.
The absentees include Oussamma Chita, Salim Boukhenchouche, Ismail Belkacemi, Brahim Benzaza, and captain Zinedine Belaid.
Despite the absence of these key players, the USMA contingent arrived in Uyo for the game on Friday afternoon, gearing up for the challenging encounter against Rivers United.
The visitors yesterday had a light training session at the Ikot Ekpene Township Stadium.
The defending champions will have an opportunity to familiarize themselves with the match venue, the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, during their training session on Saturday. This session will serve to acclimate the team to the stadium ahead of Sunday’s crucial match.
The first leg of the encounter is scheduled to kick off at 2 pm local time on Sunday. Following this fixture, the reverse fixture will take place in Algiers the following Sunday, completing the quarter-final matchup between the two teams.
