Rodri Wins Golden Ball as Best Player at 2026 FIFA World Cup
Spain midfielder Rodri has been named the winner of the Golden Ball after being recognised as the best player at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Manchester City star received the tournament’s top individual award after playing a key role in Spain’s successful campaign, which ended with a 1-0 extra-time victory over Argentina in the final.
Rodri was outstanding throughout the competition, controlling games from midfield with his calm passing, leadership and defensive strength. His performances helped Spain lift their second FIFA World Cup title, with Luis de la Fuente’s side conceding only one goal during the tournament.
The award adds another major achievement to an already glittering career for the 30-year-old, who has enjoyed success for both club and country.
Rodri started his professional career at Villarreal before joining Atletico Madrid in 2018, where he won the UEFA Super Cup. A year later, he completed a move to Manchester City and quickly became one of the most important players in Pep Guardiola’s team.
