Roger Federer is the Lionel Messi of Tennis – Carlos Alcaraz
Carlos Alcaraz is convinced that Roger Federer is the Lionel Messi version of Tennis, reports SportsRation.
The recently dethroned world number 1 player, made this admission during an interview in Buenos Aires where he will be playing in the Argentina Open.
Now world number 2 in the latest ATP rankings, Alcaraz lost his position to Novak Djokovic after missing out on Tennis for four months due to injuries.
Having missed out on the Turin Masters Cup, and Australian Open, he would play in his first game in four months against the winner of the match between Fabio Fognini and Laslo Djere on February 15.
While training and preparing to play his first competitive game in four months, Carlos Alcaraz has told the media that Roger Federer is the Tennis version of the local, and football superhero Lionel Messi.
“Federer is the Messi of tennis because of how easy he is to play,” said Alcaraz to Olé when asked who is the Messi of tennis.
Alcaraz who is from the same country as Rafael Nadal another tennis god, further explained how he idolizes Roger Federer and binges on his games.
“I loved his tennis. I loved watching him play,” told he told LA NACIÓN of his devotion to Roger Federer
“I was watching his highlights all day, watching matches.”
