Ronaldo Refuses To Open Up On Future Plans
Cristiano Ronaldo has declined to confirm whether he will retire from international football or play on after he was left in tears by Portugal’s World Cup exit.
The Real Madrid superstar failed once more to score in a World Cup knockout match as a brace from Edinson Cavani earned Uruguay a 2-1 win.
Portugal coach Fernando Santos told a news conference he hopes Ronaldo will be available for the start of the Nations League in September.
Ronaldo will be 37 when the next World Cup is held in Qatar and the Portugal captain would not give any clues as to his future plans.
“Now is not the time to talk about the future of players and coaches,” Ronaldo said.
“We have a fantastic group, young and with a lot of ambition and for that reason I think the team will remain strong.”
