Ruben Amorim Reveals Message from Jose Mourinho Ahead of First Manchester United Game
New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is set to lead the team in his first Premier League game this Sunday. The Red Devils will travel to Portman Road to face Ipswich, and the 39-year-old will hope to begin his tenure with a victory.
Amorim, who joins a list of Portuguese managers to take charge at United, follows in the footsteps of Jose Mourinho. Mourinho managed the club for three years, winning the Europa League and the League Cup during his tenure.
Ahead of his debut game, Amorim shared that Mourinho reached out to offer encouragement upon his appointment.
“Jose Mourinho sent me a message when I took over,” Amorim said. “He told me, ‘Manchester United is a big club with lovely people. It still is.’”
Mourinho, despite his achievements, was dismissed from the club after failing to meet expectations. Amorim will now face the same high pressure to deliver results and return United to their former glory.
