Russia remain banned from international competition – IAAF

Russia remains banned from international athletics competition as they have not yet met all of the criteria to be reinstated, the IAAF has said.

In November 2015, the IAAF suspended Russia amid allegations of state-sponsored doping

Earlier this month, the World Anti-Doping Agency deemed that Russia remains non-compliant with its code, and the latest update from the IAAF said that only one of five remaining criteria for returning has been fully met.

The decision from the IAAF comes before an International Olympic Committee meeting in December to determine whether Russia can compete in the Winter Olympics next year.

Rune Andersen, independent Chair of the IAAF Russian Taskforce, said via an IAAF statement: “RusAF continue to work hard at reforming Russian track and field, and the Taskforce continues to support those efforts.

“However, there are several reinstatement conditions still to be satisfied. In particular, RusAF needs the Russian authorities to get RUSADA [Russian Anti-Doping Agency] reinstated and to acknowledge the McLaren findings.”
