Sabalenka Out as Anisimova Reaches First Grand Slam Final

Amanda Anisimova has shocked the tennis world by defeating world number one Aryna Sabalenka in the Wimbledon semi-finals.

The 23-year-old American won in three thrilling sets: 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, to reach her first ever Grand Slam final.

It was a special day for Anisimova, who:

  • Beat a world number one for the first time
  • Reached her first Grand Slam final
  • Claimed her 13th win over a top-10 player
  • Now leads her head-to-head with Sabalenka 6-3

The match was full of intensity, with both players giving their best, but Anisimova showed great focus and strong shot-making in the final set to take the win.

“It feels unbelievable,” she said after the match. “Beating the best player in the world to reach my first Slam final… I’m just so proud.”

Anisimova will now play in the Wimbledon final, where she has a chance to become a Grand Slam champion for the first time.

For Sabalenka, it’s another heartbreaking exit at the semi-final stage, but she remains world number one and a strong favourite for future titles.
