Sabalenka Wins Miami Open, Claims Second Title of the Year
World number one Aryna Sabalenka defeated Jessica Pegula 7-5, 6-2 to win the 2025 Miami Open final, securing her second title of the year.
The Belarusian star showed her resilience and skill, coming from behind in the first set after trailing 3-2. She then found her rhythm, winning crucial points to take control of the match.
Pegula, however, put up a strong fight. The American fought back from 5-2 down, taking advantage of Sabalenka’s struggle with her serve. This forced a tense finish to the opening set, but Sabalenka kept her composure to win four consecutive games and seal the set.
In the second set, Sabalenka dominated with powerful groundstrokes and excellent shot placement. She closed the match with a strong backhand, lifting the trophy without dropping a set throughout the entire tournament.
This victory marks Sabalenka’s second title in 2025, following her triumph at the Brisbane International in January. However, she had fallen short in her last two finals, losing at the Australian Open and Indian Wells.
With this win, Sabalenka reinforces her status as the top player in women’s tennis, showing her determination to achieve even more success this season.
