Sabalenka withdraws from Stuttgart Open with Injury
Aryna Sabalenka has pulled out of the Stuttgart Open after failing to recover from an injury picked up after the Miami Open.
The world No. 1 confirmed the news on social media:
“Unfortunately, I suffered an injury after Miami, and even though I tried everything to recover in time, I’m not ready to compete.”
Sabalenka did not reveal the exact nature of the injury.
The Stuttgart Open, which begins on April 13, is a tournament she has consistently gone deep in, reaching the final in four of the last five years.
She added:
“I always love coming back to Stuttgart. The atmosphere, the fans, and the support I feel there are so special to me. And of course, I was really hoping to have another chance.”
Her withdrawal comes shortly after winning both Indian Wells and Miami, completing the Sunshine Double.
