Chukwueze lasted for 61 minutes as AC Milan dominated proceedings but failed to find a way past English goalkeeper, Nick Pope who was hero for Newcastle United who were making a return to the Champions League after a 20-year abscence.

Just after the hour mark, Samuel Chukwueze was replaced by Christian Pulisic .

A positive result it will be for Eddie Howe tutored Newcastle United FC as they marked their return to Europe’s elite football competition after a two-decade absence.

A hard-fought 0-0 draw with AC Milan at San Siro on Tuesday, as the Serie A club spurned numerous opportunities in the Group F opener.

Milan winger Rafael Leao kept the Newcastle defence busy throughout the contest and had his best opportunity in the 34th minute, but he miscued an elaborate backheel after skipping past two defenders.

Newcastle United FC almost took maximum points in the end through Sean Longstaff but substitute goalkeeper Sportiello was alert to tip over the crossbar.
