Samuel Chukwueze makes cameo appearance as AC Milan stumble in Serie A
Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze saw limited action as AC Milan continued their shaky start to the Serie A season with a 2-1 defeat against newly-promoted Parma. The match, held on Saturday evening, saw Chukwueze reduced to a four-minute cameo as Milan suffered their first defeat of the season.
Chukwueze, who started Milan’s season opener but failed to impress, was relegated to the bench for the Rossoneri’s first away game of the campaign. He watched from the sidelines for 86 minutes as Parma dominated the first half, taking the lead just two minutes in through Dennis Man. Despite Parma’s early dominance and several missed opportunities, Milan managed to keep themselves in the game.
In the second half, Milan found an equalizer through Christian Pulisic just after the hour mark, temporarily giving the visitors hope. However, Parma continued to press and were rewarded when substitute Matteo Cancellieri scored the decisive winner 13 minutes from time.
Chukwueze’s brief appearance in the dying moments of the match capped off what has been a disappointing start to the season for the Nigerian winger, who had enjoyed a promising pre-season. After the defeat, AC Milan, now under new manager Paulo Fonseca, have only managed to secure one point from their first two games, raising concerns about their form early in the season.
Chukwueze will be eager to prove himself in the coming fixtures as he looks to establish a more consistent role in the squad following his move to Milan.
