Samuel Chukwueze scores first Serie A goal

Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze has expressed his joy after scoring his first Serie A goal for AC Milan in a match against Hellas Verona at the Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.

This goal not only secured victory for AC Milan but also ended Chukwueze’s goal drought, potentially signaling a return to form for him.

Having joined AC Milan in the 2023 summer transfer window from Villarreal, Chukwueze had faced criticism in Italy for his lack of goals and limited impact compared to his time at his previous club.

Reflecting on his struggles and the pressure to perform, Chukwueze acknowledged the competition for his position within the team but expressed determination to continue working hard.

He emphasised the importance of his goal for boosting his confidence and reiterated his commitment to staying focused on his future performances.

“It hasn’t been easy. Whoever is playing in my position is doing great and scoring a lot. The coach can’t bench him. I continue to work hard, and it doesn’t matter if I play little. Today’s goal is very important for my confidence. I must continue to stay focused and centered on the future,” he said, as quoted by Milan Post.

Despite not being selected for Nigeria’s upcoming matches against Ghana and Mali, Chukwueze remains focused on making a positive impression through his performances at AC Milan.
