Samuel Kalu rushed to the hospital on the eve of Super Eagles’ AFCON opener

Samuel Kalu was rushed to hospital today after he collapsed during the Super Eagles training in Alexandria, officials said.

The Bordeaux winger apparently suffered from dehydration caused by the heat in Egypt at this time of the year.

“I have been told Samuel Kalu has been stabilized,” said NFF spokesman Ademola Olajire.

“He was taken to hospital for tests and he has been certified okay.

“He was dehydrated, they said.

“They told him he needs to be taking enough fluids.”

The temperatures hover between 35 and 38 degrees and this has forced CAF to agree to water breaks during matches at the AFCON in Egypt.

Several other Eagles players have been laid low by flu, coach Gernot Rohr complained during an official press briefing.
