Sanchez drops exit hints, says he wants Champions League football

Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez has dropped a big hint that he no longer wants to play for the club as he eyes Champions League football.

The Chile star, 28, was Arsenal’s top scorer last season with 24 Premier League goals and 11 assists, but the Gunners still ended up fifth in the league and missed out on the Champions League for the first time in 17 years.

“I want to play in the Champions League. The decision isn’t down to me, I need to wait for Arsenal,” Sanchez reportedly told Radio Sport Chile during a visit to his home town Tocopilla.

“I’ve made my decision, now I wait for Arsenal’s reply. The idea is to play and win the Champions League. I’ve dreamt about it since I was a kid.”

Arsenal, who won their third FA in four seasons last May, will be playing in the Europa League next season, a competition their fans have often derided.

Sanchez, who has been given extra time off after reaching the FIFA Confederation Cup final with Chile in July, has been linked with moves to Chelsea, Manchester City and Bayern Munich, who are all in the Champions League.
