Saviour Godwin shines for Casa Pia in win over Maritimo

2013 FIFA U-17 World Cup winner Saviour Godwin had another great game to help Casa Pia to a 1-2 win over Maritimo in the Portuguese top flight .

Saviour Godwin whose superlative performances for Casa Pia earned him a Nigerian National team call-up for the last international break .

The 26 year old was named in Casa Pia’s starting XI vs Maritimo by manager Fillipe .

The hosts drew first blood in the 11th minute . Seven minutes later Casa Pia equalized through Clayton to ensure even honours at halftime .

Maritimo enjoyed bulk of the possession but failed to convert chance after chance and were punished when Lelo converted from the spot what turned out to be the winner in the 71st minute .

The win takes newly promoted Casa Pia to fourth on the standings , two points adrift of table toppers Benfica after Week Eight .

Godwin and Casa Pia have garnered 17 points from the opening 8 weeks In the Portuguese top flight .

The Nigerian forward was outstanding for the team enroute promotion to the top flight last term , winning the player of the season award in recognition of his efforts .

Casa Pia will next face Vizela on the 9th of October 2022 as they continue a fairy tale start to life in the top flight .
