Oscar opens Shanghai SIPG account with a bang

Oscar scored on his debut for Shanghai SIPG last night following his £60million transfer from Chelsea.

The Brazil international came off the bench to score the opening goal in a friendly in Doha with Saudi Arabian Premier League side Al Batin. The 25-year-old took advantage of a poor clearance to place the ball in the back of the net.

He then went on to have a hand in the second goal as his new side won 2-0.

‘I only trained for two days and this is my first game. This is the start of a new season and we had only one goal, which was to win the game,’ Oscar said after the match.

‘My team-mates played very well today. The Chinese guys tried to help us integrate. It’s difficult to have a good game in such a short time but they made it happen.’

Oscar is on wages of £20m-a-year following his surprise switch to the Chinese Super League side so a debut goal is probably the least that was expected.
