Segun Odegbami mourns tragic loss of son, Oluwagbeminiyi

Former Nigerian international footballer, Segun Odegbami, and his family are in mourning following the tragic passing of his son, Oluwagbeminiyi Odegbami, on Good Friday.

The heartbreaking incident has plunged the Odegbami household into sorrow, with the loss of their loved one casting a shadow over what should have been a day of joyous significance.

Oluwagbeminiyi, described as a highly gifted and multi-talented young man, tragically passed away after a sudden and unexpected illness. Just a day before the tragic incident, he had reached out to his father seeking guidance on a documentary project they were collaborating on.

Segun Odegbami, fondly known as ‘Mathematical’ during his playing days, was unaware that this would be the last communication he would have with his son. Shortly after their conversation, Oluwagbeminiyi was rushed to the hospital, prompting a flurry of phone calls to Segun Odegbami.

Despite the efforts of medical professionals, Oluwagbeminiyi Odegbami succumbed to the circumstances, leaving his family devastated. Segun Odegbami, who had scored 23 goals in 46 appearances for the Nigerian national team, expressed his grief and led tributes for his son in a heartfelt post on his Facebook page.

In his tribute, Odegbami reflected on his son’s gentle nature and his unwavering love for his family, music, cooking, and other pursuits. He described Oluwagbeminiyi as an “unknown and unappreciated G,” highlighting his son’s innocence and innocence.

“Gbemi, until his death, was unfamiliar with the world’s complex ways. His easy going life was totally harmless to anyone. His love riveted on his little son, his mother, his sisters, his music, his cooking, his song-writing, his friends and his current work in the radio station – probably in that order, “ Odegbami stated.

Despite the profound loss, Segun Odegbami finds solace in the belief that his son’s soul is now at peace with the Creator of the Universe.
