Semi Ajayi’s brace helps Rotherham secure first win since New Year’s Day

Super Eagles defender Semi Ajayi scored two great goals to help Rotherham United beat Blackburn Rovers 3-2 at the New York Stadium in a championship game on Saturday for their first win since New Year’s day.

Semi Ajayi scored the first and the fourth goal of the game to give his side the win and the maximum points in the five-goal thriller.

The Arsenal trainee opened the scoring in the second minute with a towering header for the only goal of the first 45 minutes. The second 45 minutes witnessed 4 goals and a keenly contested tie.

Amari’i Bell restored parity for Blackburn Rovers in the 51st minute but Ryan Williams restored Rotherham United’s lead in the 57th minute before Semi Ajayi further increased the advantage to two with his second of the night,

The relentless Blackburn put one back from the spot in the 90th minute of the game through Charles Mulgrew to end the game

The win will boost Rotherham United chances of escaping the fall. Rotherham United are presently in the relegation zone with 33 points the same as Reading who are save for now due to superior goal difference.

The win has also helped Rotherham to maintain their unbeaten run in after 6 games.

The two goals have pushed Semi Ajayi’s tally to 4 goals in 35 games.
