Sevilla defeat AS Roma to be crowned Europa League Champions AGAIN!

Sevilla defeated AS Roma 4-1 on penalties to be crowned Champions of the 2022/2023 UEFA Europa League.

Jose Mourinho and Sevilla headlined previews with their invincibility stats. The Portuguese Coach for his 100% record in finals and the Spanish club for winning all seven UEFA Europa League finals played.

It was certain one history will be broken for the other to be extended. After a gruelling 120 minutes of football it was Sevilla who triumphed in Budapest.

Argentine star Paulo Dybala fired AS Roma of Italy in front the 35th minute of the game, a lead they maintained until the halftime break.

Ten minutes into the second half, Sevilla found an equalizer courtesy of a Mancini own goal to level scores at 1-1 in Budapest.

The remaining period of the match was headlined by heated contests on and off the field of play, with the Video Assistant Referees kept busy with big decisions, like a review to overturn a Sevilla penalty decision by Referee Anthony Taylor.

Jose Mourinho in his usual system setup his AS Roma charges to sit back, soak the pressure while he remonstrated at nearly every decision on the touchline which saw more action than the pitch.

Extra-time was required following a 1-1 regulation time score.

A drab 30-minutes followed with Sevilla threatening on numerous occasions but to no avail as AS Roma defended vigorously.

Englishman Chris Smalling almost scored the winner with the last action of the game when his header came off the crossbar.

At the end of extra-time, Referee Taylor signaled for penalty shootouts to determine the 2023 UEFA Europa League champions.

Sevilla edged the Italians 4-1 on penalties to consolidate their rating as kings of the UEFA Europa League.
