The maiden edition of the South EastSouth South pre-season tournament ended today with the host team FC Ifeanyi Ubah winning the trophy.
FC Ifeanyi Ubah won the cup in a dramatically fashion. Malachy Ihuoma scored a 94′ minute hat trick to seal the trophy.
Rivers United opened the gate of goals through Emeka Atuluoma after the pride of Rivers missed many goal opportunities.
Malachyy equalized towards the ending of the half time to settle the score at 1-1.
At the resumption of the second half, Malachy put the Warriors ahead before Guy kuemain leveled up for Rivers United.
Malachy finally broke the heart of Rivers United after scoring the winning goal against the run of play to make it 3-2.
In the best losers game played earlier, Abia Warriors defeated Cynosure FC 7-6 on penalties to take the third position after both sides failed to score within the 90 minutes.
Speaking to journalists after the final match, the coordinator of the tournament Mr Patrick Ngwaogu appreciated the stakeholders that made the tournament a success and promised that the challenges faced in this edition will be addressed in the next year’s tournament which is most likely to hold Enugu.
