Southampton Confirm Onuachu’s Move to Trabzonspor
English club Southampton have confirmed the permanent transfer of Nigerian striker Paul Onuachu to Turkish side Trabzonspor.
The 31-year-old Super Eagles forward spent two-and-a-half years at Southampton and made 40 appearances for the club.
“We thank Paul for his efforts during his time as a Saints player and wish him well,” the club said in an official statement.
Onuachu scored all four of his goals for Southampton in the 2022–23 season, when the team finished bottom of the Premier League and were relegated to the Championship.
During the 2023–24 season, he joined Trabzonspor on loan and impressed with 15 goals in 21 matches. His strong performance has now earned him a permanent deal with the Turkish club.
Onuachu, who was part of Nigeria’s squad that finished as runners-up at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, has 24 international appearances and three goals for the Super Eagles.
