Spieth shares lead after mastering 12th at Augusta

Jordan Spieth moved into a share of the lead at the Masters after overcoming any misgivings he may have had about revisiting the scene of his famous meltdown at the 12th a year ago.

For the past 12 months the American has had to contend with, unsurprising, questions about his now famous meltdown at the par three in the middle of Augusta’s treacherous Amen Corner.

Spieth found the water twice and eventually signed for a quadruple-bogey seven that proved costly as Danny Willett capitalised to clinch the green jacket.

Fast forward to Thursday and Spieth was back at the scene, but will have been relieved to see his tee shot clear the water – even if the ball did land towards the back of the green.

Spieth then left himself with a simple six-inch putt for par after his second shot before trotting off to continue his round.

And the American, a wire-to-wire victor in 2015, birdied the 13th to take a share of the lead with a host of players.
