SPORTS MINISTRY WELCOMES VICTORIOUS PARA POWERLIFTING TEAM

The Ministry of Youth and Sports today held a reception in honor of the victorious Para Power lifting athletes and officials who returned to the country after putting up great performances at the 2019 World Para-powerlifting Championship In Kazakhstan.

The women’s team claimed overall best position with a total of 8 medals comprising 3 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals.

Two female athletes also shattered two world records .
14 athletes represented Nigeria where they came 2nd behind China out of 76 countries. The championship took place between July 12th to 20th 2019.
