Spurs, Celtic win as Warriors, Thunder slump to losses

The Golden State Warriors suffered a shock NBA loss as the Oklahoma City Thunder were comfortably beaten.

The Denver Nuggets tied the NBA record for three-pointers with 24 in a 132-110 win against the Warriors on Monday.

The Thunder were also well beaten, going down to the Washington Wizards 120-98.

Meanwhile, Blake Griffin led the Los Angeles Clippers to a win.

 

RECORD FOR NUGGETS

Nikola Jokic posted a triple-double for the Nuggets with 17 points, 21 rebounds and 12 assists.

Juan Hernangomez (27 points) was six-of-nine from three-point range, while Jameer Nelson (23) was five-of-seven.

Kevin Durant had a team-high 25 points for the Warriors, who suffered their ninth defeat of the season, and Stephen Curry finished with just 11.

 

WIZARDS WIN

John Wall recorded a double-double of 15 points and 14 assists in the Wizards’ win.

Markieff Morris had 23 points and Otto Porter Jr. (18 points and 12 rebounds) was also a strong contributor.

Thunder star Russell Westbrook went five-of-19 from the field and finished with 17 points.

 

BRILLIANT BLAKE

Griffin led the Clippers past the Utah Jazz 88-72 thanks to 26 points, 10 rebounds and six assists.

DeAndre Jordan (10 points and 13 rebounds) also had a double-double.

 

SHOOTING THREES

SPURS, CELTICS CLAIM WINS

The San Antonio Spurs edged past the Indiana Pacers 110-106 and the Boston Celtics were too good for the Dallas Mavericks 111-98.

The Philadelphia 76ers beat the Charlotte Hornets 105-99, the Memphis Grizzlies overcame the Brooklyn Nets 112-103, the Orlando Magic stunned the Miami Heat 116-107 and the Milwaukee Bucks cruised past the Detroit Pistons 102-89.

The New Orleans Pelicans edged the Phoenix Suns 110-108 and the Atlanta Hawks had a 109-104 overtime win against the Portland Trail Blazers.

 

CAVS IN MINNESOTA

LeBron James (25.8 points, 7.8 rebounds and 8.8 assists per game) and the 37-16 Cleveland Cavaliers visit the Minnesota Timberwolves (21-34) in one of three games on Tuesday.
