Steph Curry prevails over Sabrina Ionescu in head-to-head 3-point shootout

In an electrifying showdown on Saturday night, basketball fans witnessed Golden State Warriors’ star Steph Curry narrowly defeat Sabrina Ionescu of the New York Liberty in a head-to-head three-point shootout.

Using a WNBA-sized basketball, Ionescu, renowned as one of the best three-point shooters in the league, showcased her skills shooting from behind the NBA arc, which is positioned approximately two feet farther from the hoop.

Ionescu opened by making seven straight shots before finishing with a total score of 26 — which happened to tie the highest score by any NBA player in the 3-point contest, but it was Curry who ultimately emerged victorious.

“I saw the first rack … and I was having flashbacks to watching her this [past] summer,” Curry said afterward. “It added a lot of pressure, for sure, and I just wanted to get off to a good start, settle in and thankfully I made enough to get over the top.

“But that was perfect. Great entertainment, great shooting — both sides — and an awesome 70 seconds for both of us.”

Immediately after the competition, Ionescu, 26, was asking for a rematch with Curry.

“Obviously Steph won for a reason, and I’m going to have to try to beat him next time,” Ionescu said.
