Stephen Curry to Miss At Least Three Games After Hamstring Injury

Stephen Curry to Miss At Least Three Games After Hamstring Injurysemi-final against the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Warriors confirmed on Wednesday that Curry has a Grade 1 strain and will be assessed again in one week. This means he is expected to miss Games 2, 3, and 4 — and possibly more.

Speaking to reporters ahead of Game 2 at the Target Center on Thursday, Curry admitted there is no set date for his return.

“This is a new type of injury for me,” Curry said. “From what I’ve been told, the healing has to happen naturally. You can’t rush it — your body decides how fast it recovers.

“After a week, we’ll assess it day by day to see when it’s safe to even think about playing again — not to mention how hard I can push it.”

Curry suffered the injury with 8:48 left in the second quarter of Game 1. He signalled to be taken off after grabbing his left leg and left the court shortly after. He scored 13 points in 13 minutes before exiting, but the Warriors still managed a 99–88 win away from home to lead the series 1–0.

Draymond Green led the Warriors’ defence, limiting Timberwolves star Anthony Edwards to zero baskets in his first 10 shots. Green also added 18 points, four 3-pointers, eight rebounds, and six assists.

Jimmy Butler, who joined the Warriors from Miami in February, came close to a triple-double with 20 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. Buddy Hield helped fill in for Curry, scoring 24 points, grabbing eight rebounds, and sinking five 3-pointers.

Curry is also dealing with a thumb injury on his shooting hand and played 45 minutes in Game 7 of the first-round series against the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

Game 2 tips off at 8:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, with the Warriors seen as 10.5-point underdogs.
