Super Eagles Captain Musa Shares His Career Highlights: Best Club and Top Goal Revealed
Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa has shared the highlights of his football career, naming the best club he played for and revealing his top goal.
Musa, who is Nigeria’s most capped player, started his career at Golden Boot Soccer Academy, and later played for JUTH and Kano Pillars in Nigeria. In 2010, he moved to Europe to play for VVV Venlo.
In January 2012, Musa joined CSKA Moscow, where he enjoyed his best football. During his time at CSKA, he won three Russian Premier League titles, the Russian Cup, and the Russian Super Cup. Musa became a fan favourite at the club and played over 180 matches, scoring 94 goals and assists.
After leaving CSKA in 2016, he played for Leicester City, Al-Nassr, Fatih Karagümrük, and Sivasspor. Musa also had a strong role in the Nigerian national team, representing them in multiple African Cup of Nations tournaments and FIFA World Cups.
Musa returned to CSKA Moscow in 2018 for a second spell, where he scored six goals and provided three assists in just ten games.
In an interview with Victor Modo, Musa said, “CSKA Moscow is where I had my best career. I stayed there for more than five years and won many trophies before moving to Leicester City. So for me, my best moment in my club career is CSKA Moscow.”
Musa also revealed that his best goal in the Russian Premier League was a stunning shot from outside the box against Krasnodar during the 2015-2016 season.
He said, “I have many great goals, but one of my best was against Al-Nassr when I scored a fantastic goal for CSKA Moscow. Another was against Krasnodar, which came in the last minutes of the game. It was an unexpected shot from outside the box.”
In October 2024, Musa returned to Kano Pillars for the third time, reconnecting with the club where he first started his career.
