Super Eagles Coach happy Osimhen did not leave Napoli
Super Eagles Head Coach, Jose Peseiro is happy that Victor Osimhen did not leave Napoli in the summer. SportsRation reports.
After a hugely successful season which saw him finish as Italian Serie A top-scorer while firing Napoli to the title for the first time in 30-years, Osimhen was subject of transfer interest from European clubs and one from Saudi Arabia.
Saudi Arabian outfit Al Ahli reportedly offered Osimhen a mouth-watering offer to dump Europe for Asia, but the forward turned down that chance to remain in Italy, a decision Peseiro is happy with.
” At first he thought about leaving, but then he decided to stay and do his best in Napoli. And I’m happy to see him still competing for big goals in Europe,” the Super Eagles Head Coach told Italian news outlet, Gazzetta dello Sport.
Peseiro added: But Victor is very happy in Napoli. For his growth path, staying in Europe and showing off in the Champions League remains the best way. He is young and has time to prove his talent.
“Then I understand that in the face of certain offers one can waver: two seasons in Arabia are worth more than ten in Europe, but money is not everything. Victor has improved a lot in Italy.” Peseiro remarked.
During the transfer period, Portuguese gaffer Jose Peseiro was also in negotiation with the Nigeria Football Federation, over a new contract to continue as Head Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
The Portuguese gaffer was in charge, when Nigeria’s Super Eagles spanked Sao Tome and Principe 6-0 to end their AFCON qualification journey.
2023 Men’s Ballon d’Or and the FIFA Best Men’s award nominee, Victor Osimhen scored a hat-trick in that game to underline his growing reputation as Nigeria’s top marksman.
