Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel set to play under Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce

Super Eagles defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel is poised to join the ranks of Nigerian players who have played under the renowned Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho.

Fenerbahce management initiated contract extension discussions with Osayi-Samuel on Thursday, aiming to secure his services amid potential changes at the club.

In a significant development from Turkey on Friday morning, the club’s hierarchy has reportedly reached an agreement to appoint Jose Mourinho as their next coach.

Mourinho, who is expected to guide Fenerbahce into next season’s UEFA Champions League, has agreed to a two-year deal with the Turkish giants.

Several Nigerian players, including Celestine Babayaro, John Mikel Obi, Victor Moses, and Obafemi Martins, have previously played under Mourinho. The Portuguese manager, who left AS Roma five months ago, is set to embark on his 11th managerial stint.

Former Chelsea manager Mourinho’s potential appointment was highlighted by multiple sources. noting that Aziz Yıldırım, a candidate for Fenerbahce’s presidency, had prioritized bringing in Mourinho if he wins the election. Italy-based journalist Gianluca Di Marzio further confirmed that Mourinho is on track to take charge at Fenerbahce.

This appointment means Mourinho will manage Super Eagles defender Bright Osayi-Samuel, who has also been linked with a move away from Turkey. Osayi-Samuel’s future at Fenerbahce looks promising under the guidance of one of football’s most accomplished managers.
