Super Eagles Duo Inspire Rangers to Viaplay Cup Glory

Super Eagles players Cyriel Dessers and Leon Balogun played pivotal roles in Rangers’ triumph as the Light Blues secured the 2023 Scottish League Cup with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Aberdeen in the Viaplay Cup final.

James Tavernier emerged as the hero, delivering a powerful strike in the 75th minute at Hampden Park, handing manager Philippe Clement his first trophy since taking charge a few months ago.

The win marked Rangers’ 28th Scottish League Cup, the first since 2011, and extended Clement’s unbeaten streak to 14 games.

Cyriel Dessers was subbed off in the 84th minutes while Leon Balogun played for the entire duration of the game.
