Super Eagles Goalkeeper Nwabali Reacts After Missing Out on CAF Goalkeeper Award
Stanley Nwabali, the Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, has spoken out after being left off the list for CAF’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
Recently, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed the final list for the award, which included Cameroon’s Andre Onana, Ivory Coast’s Yahia Fofana, and South Africa’s Rowen Williams. Nwabali was not on the list, despite his strong performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Nwabali responded to the snub on social media by posting a simple message: “We move!!!”
Many fans have expressed disappointment that Nwabali was left off the list, believing he deserved recognition for his role in helping Nigeria reach the final of AFCON. The goalkeeper kept four clean sheets during the tournament and made two crucial penalty saves against South Africa.
Nwabali will now look to prove himself again in the 2025 AFCON tournament in Morocco.
