Super Eagles hopeful attracts Stuggart and Leeds transfer enquiry
German Bundesliga club Stuttgart and English Championship side Leeds United are reportedly interested in young Nigerian midfielder Anthony Dennis.
The 20-year-old, who was born in Kaduna, has caught the attention of European clubs after strong performances for Turkish Super League team Göztepe.
Dennis has provided three assists in 20 appearances for Göztepe, with his latest coming in a 2-2 draw against Samsunspor.
His performances have earned him his first-ever call-up to the Super Eagles under new head coach Eric Chelle, making him the youngest player in Chelle’s debut squad.
Dennis is a versatile midfielder, able to control play from central midfield and also drive forward as a box-to-box player, which has made him stand out at Göztepe this season.
His consistent form in Turkey has not gone unnoticed, and Stuttgart and Leeds are reportedly preparing to make a move for him in the summer transfer window, according to reports from Africa Foot.
Although Dennis signed a contract extension with Göztepe in May last year, keeping him at the club until 2027, the growing interest from European clubs could make it difficult for Göztepe to keep hold of him.
Dennis has been seen as a potential long-term replacement for Wilfred Ndidi at Leicester City, and if he is included in the final 23-man squad for the Super Eagles, he will be eager to make an impact in his first call-up.
