Super Eagles media officer provides update on Stanley Nwabali injury
Nigeria’s Super Eagles goalkeeper, Stanley Nwabali, is facing injury concerns ahead of the AFCON 2023 quarterfinal clash against Angola.
Nwabali, who was injured during the game against Cameroon and replaced by Francis Uzoho, could not participate in the team’s training on Monday at the Ecole de Police in Abidjan.
While Nwabali engaged in light walks across the pitch, he did not take part in collective activities with the rest of the team. Despite his absence from training, Nwabali appeared positive and made playful remarks to journalists present at the session.
Super Eagles media officer Babafemi Raji provided update on the goalkeepers injury status, expressing confidence that he would recover in time for the quarter-final match against Angola.
Raji said, “We are expecting the test results later today, but we are very hopeful it will be positive. Right now, I can tell you all of Nwabali’s head and heart are on that leg. Give or take, we should have him back for the game against Angola.”
The Super Eagles are seeking their fourth AFCON title in Cote d’Ivoire and have shown improvement since their Matchday 1 draw against Equatorial Guinea. The team aims to continue their successful campaign in the tournament.
