Super Eagles new-boy Tolu Arokodare shares insight on his personality
Tolu Arokodare, who has just been named in the Super Eagles’ final squad for the important World Cup qualifiers this month, has shared some thoughts about his personality.
He admitted that he is very open, often tries to please everyone, and feels he should talk less.
The Genk striker, who is the top scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with a few games remaining in the season, said he is not yet where he wants to be.
Arokodare told Het Belang van Limburg: “Although I’m not where I want to be, because if I’m honest, my professionalism is one of the things I need to improve.”
He also acknowledged that there are things he still needs to work on. He said sometimes he is too open and tries too hard to please everyone, which doesn’t always work.
“I always think everyone is my friend, but that’s not always true. I’m always talking and trying to explain things, but I really need to learn to keep quiet sometimes,” he confessed.
Tolu said this can sometimes lead to problems.
“I’m convinced my worst qualities would not be so noticeable if I talked less,” he added.
He explained that he is often too expressive and feels the need to explain everything, but it’s not always necessary.
“I work hard on this, but it’s incredibly difficult. I’m 24 now and I’ve been very open all my life, so changing something I’ve done for so long is not easy.”
