Super Eagles skipper Troost-Ekong stars as Al Kholood beat Al Riyadh
Al Kholood returned to winning ways with a 3-2 victory over Al Riyadh in the Saudi Professional League on Saturday, following a 4-3 loss to Al Ittihad in their previous match.
Super Eagles captain, William Troost-Ekong, played a key role in the win, making his 19th appearance of the season for Al Kholood. The 30-year-old defender has been a steady presence at the back, providing leadership and stability for his team.
The match got off to a tough start for Al Kholood when Ibrahim Bayesh gave Al Riyadh the lead just one minute into the game. However, Al Kholood fought back, with Maolida scoring the equaliser in the 55th minute. Hammam Al Hammami then put Al Kholood ahead with two goals, one in the 63rd minute and another in the 77th minute.
Al Riyadh pulled one back through Mohamed Konate in the final minutes, but Al Kholood held on to claim the three points.
Troost-Ekong and his teammates will now look to build on this result as they face Al-Orobah in their next match.
