Super Eagles Stars Set for Showdowns in England and Turkey

Three Nigerian internationals are expected to face each other in an English Premier League clash on Saturday, while two other Super Eagles players will go head-to-head in the Turkish Super Lig.
At Craven Cottage, Alex Iwobi and Calvin Bassey will be in action for Fulham against Hull City, who have Nigerian defender Semi Ajayi in their squad.
The match will see the three Nigerian players battle for important points as their clubs continue their league campaigns.
Fulham have had a difficult start to the season, sitting at the bottom of the table with two points from six matches.
Iwobi has created 13 chances in the league, more than any of his teammates, but is yet to score or provide an assist.
Bassey has remained a regular member of the team and has also captained Fulham under their new manager, Álvaro Arbeloa.
Hull City, on the other hand, have made a better start to the campaign. They sit eighth with nine points from six matches.
Their early results include a victory over Manchester United on the opening day and a draw away to Chelsea.
Ajayi has scored once this season and has impressed with his defensive performances as Hull continue to perform better than expected.
Saturday’s match is also important for Fulham manager Arbeloa, who is facing pressure following a poor run of results since taking charge in July 2026.
Fulham’s 2-1 defeat to Ipswich Town on October 10 increased concerns about the team’s performance, with reports suggesting that the Spanish coach has limited time to turn things around.
All three Nigerian players are available for selection ahead of the encounter.
Orban, Awaziem Set for Turkish Super Lig Clash
In Turkey, Nigerian striker Gift Orban will lead Amedspor’s attacking threat when they host Konyaspor, where compatriot Chidozie Awaziem plays in defence.
Orban, 24, has enjoyed an impressive start to the season, scoring seven goals in seven league appearances. He has also provided two assists and is among the leading scorers in the Turkish Super Lig.
The striker joined Amedspor on loan from Hoffenheim in July 2026.
Reports in Turkey indicate that Amedspor could be required to make his move permanent for €3 million if he reaches 10 goals.
Awaziem, 29, will be expected to help Konyaspor’s defence contain an Amedspor side that has shown strong attacking form this season.
Konyaspor sit 15th in the league table and will need a good performance to earn points from the encounter.
Amedspor, meanwhile, occupy third place with 14 points from seven matches. They are unbeaten in their last five league games, recording three wins and two draws.
Yira Sor Could Return
Nigerian winger Yira Sor could also return to action for Amedspor after resuming full training following an injury that kept him out for about six weeks.
Sor suffered the injury during a match against Trabzonspor. Before the setback, he had scored once in three league appearances.
His return would provide Amedspor with another attacking option as they look to maintain their strong start to the season.
With Nigerian players set to face one another in England and Turkey, Saturday’s fixtures offer the Super Eagles stars an opportunity to impress and help their respective clubs secure valuable league points.
