Super Falcons Coach Warns Group Rivals After Win Against Ghana
Nigeria’s women’s national football team, the Super Falcons, have sent a strong message to their WAFCON Group B opponents after beating Ghana 3-1 in a friendly match. The game was played on Sunday, June 29, behind closed doors at the Ziaida Palace Benslimane field in Casablanca.
Goals from Chinwendu Ihezuo, Asisat Oshoala, and captain Rasheedat Ajibade gave the Super Falcons a comfortable win over the Black Queens of Ghana as they continue their preparations for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
Head coach Justin Madugu praised his players and said the team is getting ready to face Algeria, Botswana, and Tunisia in the group stage. He said the win helped the team build chemistry and test different combinations on the pitch.
“This match gave us a chance to see the whole squad play together,” Madugu said. “We’re working on improving team understanding and how we play as a unit. It’s a process, but the team is very focused on our goal — what we call Mission X.”
Madugu also said the team is full of energy and eager to win, with a strong team spirit.
“We’ll keep working on our weak areas, but I believe we’ll be ready before our first match,” he added.
The Super Falcons begin their WAFCON 2025 campaign against Tunisia on 6th July, followed by a match against Botswana on 10th July, both in Casablanca. Their final group game will be on 13th July against Algeria.
With this victory over Ghana, the Super Falcons have shown they are serious contenders in the tournament.
