Super Falcons of Nigeria qualify for 2024 Paris Olympic games

The Super Falcons of Nigeria have qualified for the 2024 Paris Olympic games with a 1-0 aggregate victory over South Africa.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons and the Banyana Banyana of South Africa were drawn in a fiesty final qualifying round for the 2024 Paris Olympic games and after two legs, it is Nigeria that booked the coveted ticket to France.

This qualification was confirmed after Randy Waldrum tutored Super Falcons held South Africa to a 0-0 second leg draw at Pretoria to finish 1-0 aggregate winners having won the first leg in Abuja.

In the first-leg, Rasheedat Ajibade scored from the spot to hand Nigeria victory and now that has ultimately ensured qualification for the Women’s football event at the Olympic games.

South Africa piled pressure in search of a goal in the return leg decided on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 but a combination of disciplined defending and excellent goalkeeping from Chiamaka Nnadozie ensured the Falcons kept the African Champions out and eventually celebrate a return to the Olympic games after more than a decade absence.

The other African slot for the Women’s football event will be taken by either Morocco or Zambia – but at the moment it’s the Super Falcons confirmed for Paris.
