Super Falcons Players Call Me ‘Mama Onome’ – Ebi
Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi, affectionately known as “Mama Onome” by her teammates, recently shared insights into her role as the mother figure within the team.
Ebi, who has been selected to represent Nigeria in the 2023 FIFA World Cup, holds the remarkable distinction of being the only player to have participated in six FIFA Women’s World Cups.
During an interview with Brila FM Radio, Ebi expressed her delight with working with her teammates, emphasizing the nickname they have given her.
She stated, “I’m like the mother of the team, hence they gave me the nickname Mama Onome.”
Ebi, 40, older than her Super Falcons teammates, has earned their respect and admiration, leading them to view her as a motherly figure.
While Ebi may be reserved in her interactions outside the team, she has a different demeanor within the squad. She feels a strong connection with her fellow players and cherishes her role as their mentor. “I feel good with the players,” she explained.
