Super Falcons ranked 10th best at 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, ahead of Brazil, Germany

Super Falcons of Nigeria have been ranked 10th best at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup ahead of big names Brazil and Germany .

The Nigerian Ladies were eliminated in the Round of 16 after a penalty shoot-out loss to eventual runners-up England.

Spain defeated England 1-0 in the final match on Sunday August 20 to win 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup title, their first ever success in the tournament.

As released by FIFA, the Super Falcons of Nigeria were tenth best at the thirty two nation Women’s World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

The format for evaluation as used by FIFA is that teams eliminated at the same stage of the competition are ranked based on the total points, goal difference and for the knockout round , circumstances leading to their elimination.

The Super Falcons of Nigeria and England round of 16 clash finished goalless and so stretched to the lottery of penalty shoot-outs where the Lionesses emerged 2-4 victors.

A tenth place finish by Nigeria is the best among the African representatives and a significant standing that betters top sides like Brazil, Germany and Italy.

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup top ten ranking is led by winners Spain, followed by England, Sweden, Australia, Japan, France,  Netherlands, Colombia, USA, and Nigeria.
