Super Falcons star Deborah Abiodun scores first Pittsburgh Panthers goal
Super Falcons star Deborah Abiodun scored her first goal for Pittsburgh Panthers in the big win over Bucknell Bisons.
Following her 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup outing with Nigeria’s Super Falcons, teenage midfielder Deborah Abiodun joined her national team Coach Randy Waldrum at Pittsburgh Panthers.
Abiodun was in action as the Pittsburgh Panthers defeated the Bucknell Bisons 5-0 at Ambrose Urbanic Field to continue their invincible run this season.
In the 59th minute of the match, Abiodun scored the first goal of her collegiate career as she found space to connect to a pass from teammate Keera Melenhorst.
In reaction to the goal, Abiodun took to her official social media handle to show off her first goal for the Pittsburg Panthers.
Along with the video was a statement by Abiodun that said, “It’s an indescribable feeling to score my first goal for @Pitt_WSOC and very grateful to my supportive players and technical staff. God and you guys made it possible.”
Coach Randy Waldrum joined in celebration of the goal by her Nigerian star.
The American born coach wrote ” First career collegiate goal with many more to come!”
Abiodun adds to a list of Nigeria Super Falcons players in America. Others are Michelle Alozie for the Houston Dash , Ifeoma Onumonu for Gotham, and Uchenna Kanu for Racing Louisville.
Abiodun and Pittsburgh Panthers will return to action when they host Duquesne in a city battle at the Ambrose Urbanic Field on Thursday, August 31, 2023.
