Super Falcons Star Rinsola Babajide Reacts to AS Roma Move
Says She is Ready for New Chapter

Super Falcons winger Rinsola Babajide has expressed her excitement after sealing a move to Italian champions AS Roma Women.
The 27-year-old, who is currently representing Nigeria at the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, shared her thoughts on her X handle on Monday, 15 July.
“Happy to finally announce that I’ve signed for @ASRomaFemminile,” she wrote. “I’m so excited to see what we can achieve together. Back in red and ready for this incredible new chapter.”
She went on to thank God for guiding her journey and appreciated her mother’s support. “My heart is full, especially having my mum beside me along the way. Thank you @beplayerbyyoufirst for making this move possible.”
Babajide joins AS Roma on a contract running until June 2027 after a strong season in Spain’s Liga F with UDG Tenerife, where she scored 10 goals and made five assists.
Known for her speed, direct style of play, and flair, Babajide began her professional career in England, playing for clubs like Millwall, Watford, Liverpool, and Brighton before moving to Spain in 2022 to play for Real Betis and later Tenerife.

Speaking after her signing, she said:
“I am honoured to join a club like AS Roma, with its rich history and ambitious vision. I look forward to giving my all for the team, growing as a player, and representing Nigeria proudly on this new stage.”

Babajide switched international allegiance from England to Nigeria in 2023 and has quickly become a key player for the Super Falcons. She made a strong start to the 2024 WAFCON, scoring and assisting in Nigeria’s opening match against Tunisia.

Her arrival is expected to strengthen AS Roma’s already impressive squad as they aim to maintain their dominance in Italian women’s football and push further in Europe.
